Project Overview
PSI’s Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Department supports programs in 37 countries (and counting) to deliver high-quality family planning and safe abortion services to women and girls. Among the department’s current projects is Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC)—a five-year intervention that is funded by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and jointly implemented by PSI and the Society for Family Health (SFH) – Nigeria. DISC aims to catalyze women’s self-injection of DMPA-SC contraception in Nigeria and Uganda, and more broadly to spark a self-care movement across healthcare systems in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Eat Safe (Evidence and Action Towards Safe, Nutritious Food) programme aims to generate evidence and knowledge of the potential of increased consumer demand for safe food to substantially improve the safety of nutritious foods in informal market settings in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). The five-year programme is funded by USAID and is undertaken by a consortium led by GAIN and containing the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Pierce Mill Education and Media. In Nigeria, where GAIN holds a country office, programme activities will be focused on different cities and markets within Kebbi State.

GAIN seeks a partner organization (Contractor) to support the implementation of EatSafe in country activities in Nigeria, in coordination with GAIN staff in the Nigeria country office and with other project partners as needed.

Action Aid seeks a researcher to assess the current gaps is tax frameworks that inhibit optimal revenue collection from extractives from study countries (tentatively: Burundi, Ghana, Liberia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe). This is to be done by assessing country progress in domesticating the AMV pillar of fiscal regime and revenue management in the context of the legal and institutional frameworks governing extractives and adherence to human rights, especially those regarding participation and accountability. The consultant is expected to include case studies of how much revenue is lost by current gaps in tax frameworks.

LOCATION: PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2020 – MARCH 30TH, 2021

Purpose

  • Georgetown University’s Institute for Reproductive Health (IRH) has received funding from the John Templeton Foundation to implement the evidence-based Transforming Masculinities (TM) intervention developed by Tearfund to be adapted to Nigeria. In Nigeria, the intervention is locally known as the Masculinity, Faith, and Peace (MFP) intervention.
  • The MFP intervention has been implemented in Plateau State since May 2019, when collection of baseline data was completed. IRH is seeking a qualified, local Nigeria research firm to conduct data collector training and collection, quality data management, basic analysis, and report writing for the MFP endline study to be conducted starting approximately in November, 2020. We anticipate data collection activities to take no more than three months.
  • This scope of work sets forth the background and objective for the evaluation and the scope of work for the evaluation subcontractor.
