Overview :With 19% of Nigeria’s population aged between 15-24, 27% between 25-49 years and the population expected to have doubled by 2050, investing in Nigeria’s human capital becomes more urgent than ever. While unemployment and underemployment reach 40%, Nigeria produces about 600,000 graduates to the labour market every year. Despite this human capital and technical expertise, the employment and labour markets in public and private sector do not favor recent graduates with little or no experience, thereby contributing to rising unemployment outflux of highly skilled talent as economic migrants in search of greener pastures. In response to this complex development challenge, the Federal Government – under the leadership of the Office of the Vice President with support from UNDP is establishing a Fellows Programme (NJFP) as a platform for providing outstanding Nigerians with practical ‘on-the-job’ skills and leadership competences through a twelve-month fully paid placement opportunity.Through this programme, highly qualified recent graduates will be provided with a unique work opportunity within Private Sector institutions, Government, UN Agencies, and Development Organizations with the intention of enhancing their professional and leadership capacities to meaningfully participate in the social and economic development prospects of their country. In addition, opportunities will be provided to horn business development and entrepreneurial competences. It is expected that this programme will also contribute towards improving the employability of the Fellows; help to kick start their careers in the international development and public sectors, while also transferring requisite skills and competences for those seeking to venture into entrepreneurial activities in the private sector. In so doing, the Fellowship will also assist in reversing the brain-drain problem and tackle irregular emigration by making young professionals especially new graduates more competitive on the domestic labour market.A first cohort of 20,000 fellows will be inducted into the programme in June 2020 with the objective of growing the enrolment incrementally in subsequent years. In view of the establishment of the programme, UNDP is seeking the services of a Private or Public Sector Firm or institution to support the setting up of key Standard Operating Systems for the Fellowship Programme. If you are interested in submitting a porposal in response to this CFP, please prepare your proposal in accordance with the requirements and procedure as set out in this CFP and submit it by the Deadline for Submission of Proposals set out in Call for Proposal. Please acknowledge receipt of this CFP by sending an email to procurement.ng@undp.org indicating whether you intend to submit a proposal or otherwise.
