KEEPING FOOD MARKETS WORKING (KFMW) SME TECHNICAL CAPACITY SUPPORT IN NIGERIA.
ISSUED BY THE GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR IMPROVED NUTRITION (GAIN)

In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, GAIN developed the Keeping Food Market working (KFMW), a programme of targeted support to help sustain core food systems, workers and markets during the COVID-19 emergency. GAIN’s goal is to mitigate the collapse of food systems by supporting food markets and the value chain companies in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs), especially in Africa and Asia, which face potentially catastrophic supply and demand disruption. GAIN will achieve this by establishing an emergency response programme to assess and address the challenges facing the food system.

GAIN seeks to hire a consultant that will develop and implement context specific training, mentoring and coaching support/exercise for between 5-18 SMEs focusing on a particular or a range of complementary technical capacity areas of pre-determined needs. These technical areas include supply chain management, digitization/online trading, financial management, business resilience/management and resource mobilization. This technical capacity plan is specifically intended to support SMEs in order to enhance the food system presently experiencing significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the ideal consultant is expected to identify one or two areas of technical strength and expertise, develop appropriate training/capacity building scope of work and corresponding methodology in coordination with GAIN and SMES.

1.0 PREAMBLE
The National Institute of Construction Technology and Management (NICTM), Uromi, Edo State, a Federal Polytechnic, was appropriated funds in the 2021 Budget appropriation Act. The budget covers provision for construction, goods, training and empowerment activities to be executed in various parts of Nigeria under Capital and Zonal Intervention (Constituency) Projects. The various activities are grouped into LOTS under Works, Goods, and Services.
